SLAC Scientific Collaborative Researcher Registration - Instructions for Research Collaborators

 

This document outlines the Scientific Collaborative Researcher Registration process intended for all Scientific Research Collaborators (i.e. Facilities Users and Affiliates) who will be onboarded at SLAC.

 

PLEASE NOTE: We are presently implementing SLAC Scientific Collaborative Researcher Registration only for SLAC groups and experiments affiliated with SLUO.

 

  1. Click the start page of the SLAC Scientific Collaborative Researcher Registration process 
  2. Read the instructions on the start page and click “Enrollment”

  3. There is a drop-down selection with a list of organizations for you to select from and to authenticate. If you don't see the discovery page for slac.stanford.edu, please clear the browser cache in your browser session and start from the step 1. If your organization is not listed, please click the, use “this form” link below the drop-down list box to register without federated authentication and move forward to step 5. 
     

  4. If the organization you are affiliated with is listed, select the organization  
     
    1. This will take you to the corresponding login page of the organization you have selected. You will be prompted to authenticate with your organization’s credentials.
    2. Once you authenticate with your organization’s credentials, you will see a form with your given name, family name and email already filled out based on the federated authentication. You can change or add information as needed and move forward to step 6  
       
  5. If your organization is not listed, as mentioned in step 3, you will see the form to enter your given name, family name and email and move forward to step 6.
  6. Add your phone number and select the SLAC Project you will be working on and click Submit. If you don’t know the Project name, please check with your SLAC Point of Contact. This is required for proceeding further in the process. 
     
  7. Scroll down and select Submit.  The Terms and Conditions page will appear. Review the terms and conditions by clicking on the corresponding pushbutton. Once you review and click OK Then the “I Agree” checkbox will be enabled. 

  8. Check the “I Agree” checkbox and submit. 

  9. This will take you to the following page. In the meantime, you will receive an email to validate your email address.

     

  10. Go to your email and look for an email from SLAC Registry Service. Open the email and click the link in the email.

  11. Once you click the link in the email. You will be directed to a page with all your information you previously filled out. The buttons Accept and Decline will appear. 

     

  12. Review the information and click Accept and then Submit. This will direct you to the Thank you page with instructions. At this point, your SLAC Point of Contact (POC) will be notified, and he/she will approve your request. 

     

  13. If the POC approves your request, you will receive an email notification from SLAC Registry Service with a link for your next steps in the registration process.

    Hello [Facilities User Name],

    Your initial request to join (@CO_NAME) has been approved.

    Please click on the link below to complete the SLAC Site Access Portal form for federal approval. 

    Some key points:

    • Click on “Scientific User”

    • In the field SLAC Point of Contact, please enter the name of your Point of Contact (POC Name)

    • Please make sure you provide the same email address with which you were authenticated and the phone number you provided earlier.

    Once the Site Access Portal form has been submitted and has been fully approved, the SLAC id # will be issued.

  14. If the POC denies your request, you will receive an email notification from SLAC Registry Service indicating the decline.
