Brief Description
This FAQ supports Guests using the SLAC Guest Gateway (SGG). It explains how invitations and registrations work, what “Location” means, how to check status or correct information, and how notifications and access are handled.
General
My registration was approved. How do I get access to a system or a physical location?
Physical and virtual (system) access are granted based on business needs and completion of any required training. An approved registration does not grant access to any SLAC location or resource that requires special training. Contact your Host for access guidance.
What is a Location?
A Location represents a type of registration and determines who can send invitations, what information to collect, and the required approvals.
Registration
If I start filling in my registration details and then close my browser, will my work be saved so I can finish later?
No. You will need to click the link in your invitation email to restart the registration.
Who should I contact if I have further questions or have trouble filling out the form?
Please refer to the VUE Center website for more information or contact your Host.
How can I check the status of my registration?
You will receive email updates as your registration progresses. You may also contact your Host.
I have worked with SLAC before, but I don’t remember my SLAC ID number. What should I enter in that field on the registration form?
Your Host may be able to look up your SLAC ID (SID) number. If not, you can leave that question empty.
I submitted my registration form, then realized I made a mistake on it. What should I do?
Please contact your Host.
Who should my emergency contact be? Should it be local only?
Your emergency contact should be someone SLAC can reach in case an emergency affects you while you are at SLAC. It is preferable to provide a U.S. contact, but non-U.S. contacts are also allowed.
Information Update
Can I update my registration details?
If you have a SLAC ID# (SID#), you can update some of your information yourself through the Identity Data Management Portal, or submit a request to your Host if you need to update other details.
Invitation
Does the invitation link expire?
Yes, it expires after the end date of the invitation.
What email address should I give my Host to send the invitation to?
Provide an email address that is unique to you and that you can access to receive ongoing communications from SLAC. It can be a business or personal address.
Notifications
What if I do not recognize the Host name on the notifications I receive?
Please contact the person whom you expected to be your Host.
When I click the link in the invitation email, I receive a message saying the invitation has already been used. What does this mean?
This indicates you have already submitted your registration. If you need to make changes, please contact your Host.
