Clearing Specific Cache from the Browser
Sometimes IT will ask you to clear your cache in order to troubleshoot a problem. But you don't have to clear all of the cache in your browser! Follow these steps to clear cache for a specific site from a specific browser.
Windows
Chrome
- click the 3 vertical dots toward the upper right corner of the window
- select Settings
- click Privacy and security in the left pane
- click Site Settings
- Click on View permissions and data stored across sites
- enter the domain you want to search for (like slac.stanford.edu) in the Search field toward the upper right corner
You can then either click the Delete Displayed Data button to delete your filtered results or you can click the trash can icon next to specific results to only delete those.
Edge
- click the 3 horizontal dots toward the upper right corner of the window
- select Settings
- click "Cookies and site permissions" in the left pane
- click "Manage and delete cookies and site data" button in the Cookies and data stored section
- click "See all cookies and site data"
- enter the domain you want to search for (like slac.stanford.edu) in the Search cookies field toward the upper right corner
- click the down arrow to expand the list of results
You can then either click the Remove All Shown button to delete your filtered results or you can click the trash can icon next to specific results to only delete those.
Firefox
- click the 3 horizontal lines toward the upper right corner of the window
- select Settings
- click on "Privacy & Security" in the left pane
- click the "Manage Data" button
- enter the domain you want to search for (like slac.stanford.edu) in the Search website field
- unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to expand the cookies associated with a particular site, so click the Remove Selected button to delete the results for that site
Mac
Safari
- click Safari on the menu
- select Settings
- click on the Privacy tab
- click "Manage website data" button
- enter the domain you want to search for (like slac.stanford.edu) in the Search field
- unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to expand the cookies associated with a particular site, so click the Remove button to delete the results for that site
