Q- What versions of Outlook does the button support

A- All versions and Webmail

 

Q- Why a button

A – We wanted to make reporting unwanted emails easier

 

Q- What happens to the email when I use the button

A- It goes to the SLAC Cyber Team and it is moved to your Deleted Items

 

Q- What is the SLAC Cyber Team

A- They are a team of SLAC Employees that are specifically trained to handle Cyber Incidents

 

Q- What is Phishing

A- Phishing is the practice of luring you into disclosing personal information, such as bank account numbers and passwords. Often phishing messages look legitimate but have deceptive links that actually open fake websites

 

Q- What is Spam

A- Spam is any unsolicited bulk messages, that is, messages sent to multiple recipients who did not ask for them

  

Q- What if I accidentally select legitimate email as spam or phishing mail? 

A- Navigate to your Deleted Items Folder right-click the email and move it to your inbox  

 

Q- Can I still forward suspicious email to spam@slac.stanford.edu or add it to the Cyber Security Public Folder?

A- Yes

 

Q- Why is it only in one version of Outlook?

A-We understand that some of you have a Windows and a MAC machine, the button will only be available in one platform for each user while we work out the kinks.  

 

Q - I can’t find the button, where is it on?

Q - What happens when I click the button?

A - It goes to the SLAC Cyber Team, we are able to better handle the email accordingly

 

Q - Why should I use this button?

A- This makes handling unwanted emails easier

 

Q – How do I add the button if it’s not there?

A – For Windows you can go to the software Center and install it manually, for Mac you will need to submit a ticket to the Mail Admin

 

When do I use it?

Click the PAB if you believe you have received a phishing or spam email. Any emails you report using the PAB will be automatically deleted from your inbox. The emails you report will also be forwarded to the SLAC Cyber Security Team

 

How do I use it?

 

 In this view, to report an email as a phishing email:

  1.  Click the Phish Alert Button while the email is open.
  2.  A prompt will ask you if you want to report the email as a phishing email. Click Yes to report the email or click No to not report the email. (See prompts below. Windows and Mac are different.)

   The PAB add-in will appear as a clickable Phish Alert Button in any opened email.
