Mathworks - All MATLAB and Simulink Products Available to SLAC Employees

Overview
The Institute-Wide License allows access to all of Mathworks products to all SLAC computers and SLAC researchers, staff and academic visitors. Users are also able to install MathWorks software on their personally-owned computers. The Institute-Wide License supports three configurations.
Accessing the SLAC Matlab portal
Go to SLAC's MATLAB Portal at Mathworks.
Sign-up for a Mathworks individual account
If you do not already have a Mathworks account please follow these steps to create one.
- Go to the SLAC Matlab portal
- Go to “Sign in to get started”
- Where it says “No account? Create one!” Click on the link to create the account and fill out the required information.
Download the Installer
If you have not already downloaded the Matlab installer follow these steps:
- Go to SLAC's MATLAB Portal. Select ‘Sign in to get started’ under the "Get MATLAB and Simulink" section.
- Log into your MathWorks account.
- Click on the license hyperlink.
- Go to the "Install and Activate" tab to download. (Users can also download previous releases here).

Install and Activate
- Run the installer.
- In the installer, select "Log in with a MathWorks Account" and follow the online instructions.
- Note: You must select license 40838630. If you don't see this license, go to SLAC's MATLAB Portal and restart the process.
- Select the products you want to download and install.
- After downloading and installing your products, keep the "Activate MATLAB" checkbox selected and click “Next".
- Follow the prompts to activate MATLAB.

Important notes for Linux users
- For linux users working on a server or workstation that have access to AFS, you can simply start Matlab by running /afs/slac/package/matlab/current/bin/matlab
- If you encounter a license error when starting Matlab, try one of the following:
- for csh/tcsh users: setenv MLM_LICENSE_FILE 27010@license1,27010@license2,27010@license3
- for bash users: export MLM_LICENSE_FILE="27010@license1,27010@license2,27010@license3"
Activate Matlab (product already installed)
For users that have a license, but not the enterprise license, follow these steps to activate your Matlab license.
- Activate your new license through SLAC's MATLAB Portal, or activate your new license by going to the Help -> Licensing -> Activate Software menu from the MATLAB client and follow the prompts.
- You must select license 40838630. If you don't see this license, go to SLAC's MATLAB Portal and restart the process.
