Salvaging a Computer System

In order to preserve the chain of custody for our DOE assets the IT Service Desk can no longer accept computing devices to be sent to Salvage. This includes systems being replaced with a new machine. Salvaging of SLAC computer equipment must be initiated by the custodian.

To properly salvage a computer system, you must either:

Drop your computer off at Salvage, Building 680 PEP Interaction Region 8 (IR8) - Lower level. The equipment must be accompanied with a completed salvage form

Call Salvage at 650-926-2329 for pickup. Please note that they can only pickup small office equipment and the equipment must be accompanied with a completed salvage form
Request a pickup from Labor Pool to drop off the equipment for you. Call 650-926-8901 or submit a Facilities service request. You will need a PA to complete the form as there is a fee for labor services.
