Software Approved For Self-Purchase
SLAC IT provides centralized access to essential software which can be located here. Additionally, the software subscriptions listed below have been approved by IT for departmental purchase and use on SLAC-owned and managed devices.
Purchase procedure
- If the software and version are listed below, email the suggested vendor contact directly (or an appropriate alternative), and request a quote for the software.
- If the quote is below $10,000, it can be purchased using a departmental P-card. If the quote is above $10,000, a purchase requisition must be submitted.
- For any questions regarding the purchasing process, please contact your department admin or gatekeeper.
- Note: If a supplier is missing from PeopleSoft's supplier list, email suppliers@slac.stanford.edu for information.
Support
- Once purchased, and you receive the license key or email regarding access to the software, forward the email to software@slac.stanford.edu.
- If installation or other IT support is required, please submit a ticket to the SLAC IT Service Desk.
- The IT Service Desk provides front-line support and basic trouble-shooting for these software titles, but application-specific issues may need to be addressed by your department or the vendor.
Cyber review of Cloud-based (SaaS) solutions
Software evaluation is required by Cyber for all cloud-hosted solutions before the purchase is made, which can be requested through submitting the Software Use Request Form (SURF). This evaluation is required:
- If the request is for a cloud-based or SaaS solution
- If the software and version are not in the list below
- If the software is listed below but it has changed from an on-premise/installed solution to a cloud (SaaS) hosted solution
- Note: even free trials of software must be approved before use or install.
Data Security:
- Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) is not allowed to be processed by or stored on this software. If you have a scenario that involves using CUI data with one of these tools, a separate evaluation is required, which can be requested through the SURF request linked above.
- Use of software must comply with Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources Policy, Minimum Security Requirements for IT Equipment, and Lifecycle Management for IT Hardware, Software and Services.
- Moderate risk data is allowed for use with these tools on your SLAC-owned and managed device.
