Shipping SLAC Systems to an Off-site Location

Overview
This article outlines the responsibilities for shipping SLAC systems to an off-site location. These only pertain to shipping during normal operations.
Departmental and User Responsibilities
- The Departmental Administrator is responsible for shipping the computer to the end-user
- The Departmental Administrator must ensure that the SLAC Offsite Use Form is completed and sent to Property Control
- The SLAC Offsite Use Form must be:
- Signed by the User (Custodian)
- Signed (approved) by the Supervisor or Department Head
- Sent to Property Control
Service Desk Responsibilities
- Install the appropriate image (Windows, Mac) on the system
- Ensure that the system is verifiably encrypted
- Using Remote Desktop, have the user log in to the system to create a cached profile
- Create a local account (with administrative privileges) so that the user can login, in case there are any issues or emergencies with a domain login
- Initiate SLAC Offsite Use Form
- Fill out PC number and device description
- Send form to Departmental Administrator for signature of Supervisor or Department Head
Peripherals and Computer Accessories
- Departmental Administrators are responsible for shipping peripherals and computer accessories
- No Offsite use form is required
