AV Upgrade Projects
The audio/visual equipment in several conference rooms at SLAC is outdated, resulting in reliability issues and difficulty in servicing the equipment. SLAC personnel host many in-person meetings with virtual attendees from other institutions. This project seeks to provide a modern and reliable experience for these meetings by upgrading the equipment and the design of the AV systems in select conference rooms: Trinity, Redtail and the Kavli Auditorium.
Trinity
Trinity’s AV system is designed to be used as one open room.

Planned improvements
- Cisco trackable Quad cameras
- Presenter cameras for a podium view
- Two confidence displays, one on each side of the room
The upgrades to this conference room have been completed for over a year now and it is considered to be a stable and reliable facility.
Instructions for how to use Trinity are available here.
Redtail
Redtail AV system is designed to be used as one open room, or two divided rooms. It is located on the 1st floor of Bldg 901 and consists of a space which can be divided up into two rooms.
The upgrades to the Redtail conference room are designed to address the following issues and hardware:
- Two separate ceiling mounted projectors
- No microphones
- No previous teleconferencing equipment
- No cameras
Planned design improvements
- System can be combined or divided, and the divided rooms can operate independently of each other with similar features
- Side-by-side displays in each of the two rooms, eliminating ceiling mounted projectors
- Trackable cameras
- Rear camera for Podium view
- Control panels at the screens
- Cisco teleconferencing equipment
- Accessible Wall Plates with HDMI connection
- Ceiling-mounted microphones
Instructions for how to use the Redtail rooms are available here.
