New streamlined process for IT effort requests
A new IT effort request form was developed to support lab priorities and simplify partnerships with IT.

As the lab continues to expand and evolve, there are opportunities for organizations to partner with SLAC IT to modernize systems and processes. To facilitate this, IT has developed an Effort Request form to support lab priorities.
As your strategic partner, IT can assist you with your project. With departments like Cyber Security, Vendor Management, and Identity and Access Management, engaging IT subject-matter experts as you plan your scope of work can help move your project toward completion.
The Effort Request process
The form provides a single touchpoint to engage SLAC IT regarding large efforts that may require IT support. It will also collect essential information, like budgets and timelines, which will help IT understand the scope of your project.
After you submit the form, IT will contact you to learn more about your project and how they can help. You will be kept informed of the status of your request throughout the review process.
The Effort Request form is not intended to replace existing ServiceNow workflows, such as reporting problems and requesting accounts. Instead, use the form for requests that are not already part of the IT Service Catalog.
How the process will help
SLAC IT receives many requests through informal channels such as direct phone calls and email, but without a standardized intake process, we miss the opportunity to collect important metrics. This new process allows us to collect data that will provide important insights into our work to better serve the lab.
